Face time #1

One of the great pleasures of being a regular filmgoer is the array of great faces one sees. I'm not just talking about gorgeous women here, but actors- male and female- whose faces are fascinating to look at. Faces with character, faces not easily forgotten. Norma Desmond famously said, "they had faces then," referring to the dearth of great faces in the contemporary cinema of the time. But then, I'm not sure she ever watched any new movies, so she obviously missed the amazing visages of everyone from Gene Tierney to Charles Laughton. It's a tradition that continues today, provided you are willing to look.

I've been mulling over doing this as a semi-regular thing on my blog for a while now. Dennis has a similar thing over at his blog, but since it's been a while I figured it was fair game for me to do too. I'll try not to steal any of your chosen faces, Dennis.

From here on out, it'll just be a face and a name, no commentary. Because why bother writing about something that's right there for you to see? Anyway, here you go.

No worries. I have some ideas for another edition myself, but for now I'll just enjoy yours!
